Adam was working with a man with a rare form of Agoraphobia that meant he got very anxious as he reached the boundary of a distance from his home. Most agoraphobics feel this way about the idea of leaving their home but for him, it was his town.
Adam uses a variation of what used to be known as the fast phobia cure, now known as the staged disassociation protocol. This can be used metaphorically for anyone listening to expand their own comfort zone and to feel resourceful at the idea of doing things outside of the comfort zone.
